Promises

 

Once upon a time, it seems, promises were sacred --
One's word was one's bond.
In our often care-less world,
We seem to have forgotten how important & momentous
Our words are -- our promises -- even, our vows.

Robert Frost wrote the haunting poem,
"Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening" --
And its final lines are so moving, speaking of enduring commitment:

"But I have promises to keep --
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."
